Accessories
In order to completely satisfy your image analysis requirements
we have a carefully selected range of accessories to complement
our image analysis systems. For particularly demanding applications,
Perceptive Instruments can also provide custom software development.
To
ensure that we start with the optimum image capture for macro applications
we have designed special illumination stands,
and use video cameras and lenses of the highest
quality.
Petri-viewer
The Petri-viewer, designed primarily for colony
counting and inhibition zone assays, includes incident, dark-field
and transmitted illumination for opaque, clear and semi-opaque agars
respectively. The use of very bright cool white tubes provides unprecedented
contrast between colonies and substrate. It features a monochrome
CCD camera linked to an automatic lens;
a high resolution CCD camera is optional for more demanding applications.
The type of illumination and lens aperture are under complete software
control enabling different configurations to be saved.
Special sample trays are included to hold Petri-dishes in place
and these are easily removed for cleaning and disinfection. The
Petri-viewer can be used for all sizes of Petri-dish up to 90mm
diameter, microtitre plates, culture dishes up to 100mm square and
3M Petri-film.
Macro stand
The
Macro Stand has proven to be the most
versatile illumination stand avaliable for image analysis.
It features transmitted and dark-field illumination as standard
with incident illumination as an option. The metre high column features
rack and pinion movement to position Sorcerer's camera for the exact
field of view required. Furthermore, the incident illumination module
may also be positioned independently to cast light at any desired
angle.
A range of high quality zoom and fixed focus lenses are avaliable
to ensure samples are imaged at exactly the right magnification.
Most often used is the macro zoom lens
which can image objects of circa 30 microns diameter upwards. This
facilitates viewing of individual wells of microtitre dishes, magnified
parts of Petri-dishes and 12" square inhibition zone bioassay
plates. A range of plate holders are available to securely hold
samples in position beneath the camera and lens.
Other accessories
Microscope C-mount adapters are avaliable from
Perceptive Instruments to connect the Sorcerer camera directly to
the trinocular head or other port of all popular makes and models
of microscope. We can also supply special
wide-field systems which are particuarly suitable for fluorescence
techniques.
Automatic XY stages can be fitted to the macro
stand and most microscopes enabling samples to be scanned field
by field under the control of Sorcerer's stage control commands.
PC's, printers, storage devices and other peripherals
can also be supplied. Perceptive Instruments is an authorised
re-seller of Compaq & Hewlett Packard products and are
able to offer a complete system with Sorcerer. Alternatively we
can install Sorcerer in your choice of computer.
Custom software solutions for image analysis and
data processing can also be provided. This includes creating novel
measurement alogorithms for specific tasks, writing macros for Microsoft
Excel or designing a totally new application. For example, we have
developed special systems for high throughput vaccine screening,
marine life morphometry, inhibition zone bioassays and industrial
inspection.
